B.F.A. Audition/Interview Information


Please prepare two contrasting monologues: either one contemporary or one classical (written before 1850) or two contemporary (one comedic/one dramatic) of no more than two minutes each. Be prepared to improvise if requested. All B.F.A. Acting applicants are encouraged to attend a live audition. However, if you are unable to visit one of our audition locations, please submit a recorded audition along with your supplemental application. All recordings must be submitted in U.S. format. To schedule an audition, complete the supplemental application and select your desired city. A confirmation will be mailed to you.

Ballet Dance

Ballet Dance

Juilliard aims to create true contemporary dancers—trained equally in classical ballet and modern dance. By teaching our dancers the great traditions and disciplines of both past and present, we open their eyes and minds to all the choreographic possibilities that lie ahead.

To audition for the Dance Division, you must have a minimum of three years of training in ballet and/or modern dance. If you meet this minimum requirement, you are welcome to complete the following steps to apply for admission:

Bling Ya Ting

Bling Ya Ting

You are invited to the third 'Bling Ya Ting' – a showcase event uniting local talent. The last show was a success, with over 500 participants (performers and audience) and a judge from a major arts-management agency. Some of our local talent has been spotted.

The event is being run in conjuction with Cultural Arts United, a Cambridge-based social enterprise initiative. The aim of the talent show is to bring together different ethnic backgrounds, ages, faiths, and people from rural and urban areas.The show will unite, discover, develop and showcase local talent with a focus on urban and world themes.

Due to the high interest in the show we have added a second audition date.The second set of auditions are on Saturday 13 February 2011, 11am-3.30pm at the Meadows Community Centre, 1 St Catharine's Road, Cambridge CB4 3XJ. There is no charge to enter the talent show.

The main Bling Ya Ting show is on Tuesday 5 April 2011 at the Cambridge Corn Exchange, Wheeler Street, Cambridge, CB2 3QB. Time to be confirmed.

TRIDEADANCE

Kathy Miller of trideaDANCE is having auditions for dancers.

Date and Timings: Jan 30 at 6. To 9 PM
Age: 18 and older
Venue: Ritz Theatre, 30 S. Washington St

Dancers should arrive in easy clothing and be ready to study and demonstrate the movement phrases trained at the audition. Earlier dance skill may be cooperative, but is not necessary. Practice dates and times are to be gritty.

TrideaDANCE is a professional dance collaborative currently in residency at The Ritz Theatre that creates and performs contemporary dance works utilizing a variety of dance styles and techniques.

Auditionees must register by e-mailing their name, address, and phone number to Pamela McCray .When registering, please indicate if you will need your two complimentary tickets to the performance that evening. Auditions start promptly at 11:00AM. Auditionees are encouraged to arrive no later than 10:00AM to complete necessary paperwork. Please note that POINTE is a required part of the audition. We highly recommend that you attend the concert that evening at 5:30PM to have a clear understanding of what we do. Auditionees will receive two complimentary tickets to the concert. Additional tickets may be purchased beginning by contacting the Box Office at (205) 348-3400.

Music Auditions

The UNO Department of Music has two types of auditions. All prospective music majors must audition on their major instrument in order to be music major, in education or performance. Ideally, these auditions take place in the fall or spring semester for students who will matriculate in the following fall semester. Students who plan on starting spring semester should perform their audition during the preceding fall semester. For these auditions, two pieces of contrasting musical styles or periods are required to be performed for two or more UNO faculty members. The search for the next "Survivor" is coming to northern Kentucky.

The CBS show is holding an open audition for the next "Survivor" season at Turfway Park in Florence.

Date and Timings : Jan. 28 from 4-9 p.m.

The participants will have one minute on camera to prove themselves to producers that they can be better than other contestants in this show, to win the title.

Whacky singer Shirlena Johnson has exposed that after deteriorating to be successful on The X Factor last year, she will be making one more bid for well known Britain’s Got talent.

She told The Sun:

“I wanted to see if there was another opportunity for me. I’m not really worried about what happened before. I know I am better.“I merit a second chance. I hope I will make it to the next stage. It would mean a lot to me. I would be so happy. This is something I really want to do – it’s my dream.

“If Britain’s Got Talent doesn’t work out then I will go for The X Factor again.

Phoenix Festival Theater

Phoenix Festival Theater, a community theater at Harford Community College, will hold auditions for the musical Company. .

February 26, 2011 at 10 AM - 2 PM
February 27, 2011 at 11 AM - 3 PM

Auditions will be held at the Amoss Center on the Harford Technical High School campus directly across the street from HCC (enter through doors at rear loading dock). All roles are open to individuals who can play characters 25 years of age and older. Those auditioning should bring sheet music and be prepared to sing 16 - 32 measures; an accompanist will be provided. Also may be asked to read selected scenes from the show.

The play will be performed June 10-12 and June 17 & 18, 2011.

BARRY MANILOW SCHOLARSHIP AWARD(awarded for 2010 – 2011)

The Department of Music and Dance will present the Barry Manilow Scholarship Award (approximately$900.00) to an outstanding undergraduate performer who will be a full-time student during both the Fall and Winter semesters in which they will hold the award. Applicants must be admitted to an undergraduate degree program in the Department of Music and Dance or CTA. Previous winners and students on Conditional.

Admission, Alternative Admission or Special Student statuses are ineligible to apply. This award may be received in addition to other major university or department scholarships.

Competition

Friday, January 29, 2010, Alexander Recital Hall, 3 p.m.
Performance time is limited to ten (10) minutes. Please note that only one performer shall be considered as the entrant and clearly designated as such on the application. The audition performance is open to the public.
Application

Faculty members must submit the application. For your student to be considered for this award, please submit this application electronically to Dan Foster, Chair of Elections and Awards Committee (dfoster@emich.edu) by noon Thursday, January 21, 2010.

Procedure

Accepted applicants should sign-up for a performance time. A sign-up sheet will be posted on the music locker area bulletin board by Monday, January 25, 2010. Time will be made available, through the Department of Music and Dance office, for accepted applicants to practice in Alexander Recital Hall. Auditions will be heard by judges from Department of Music and Dance faculty and CTA. Scholarship recipient recommendations will be forwarded to Barry Manilow for the final award decision. Results of the selection process will be announced as soon as possible.

BFA and MFA Auditions 2010-2011 for acceptance Fall 2011

Each year, the School of Dance holds two national auditions, fall and spring, for acceptance the following academic year. The first National Audition has already been finished. The second National Audition will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011 - 12:00 pm. Ballet, Modern and Jazz will be given in that order. MFA auditioners (only) should be prepared to show a short solo afterward. To secure a place at the national audition, your first step is to complete the audition application and send it, and the necessary materials, (see below), to The University of Arizona School of Dance. If you are applying for acceptance into the dance program for fall 2011, you must audition at one of our scheduled auditions or send a video audition during the 12 months prior to the first day of classes. Audition Fees: $30 for National Auditions; $40 for individual auditions; $50 for video auditions.

  • A brief resume of your dance training and experience

Star for a Night auditions for talented youngsters

The search for talented youngsters to perform at a glittering variety evening at the Harlequin Theatre, Redhill, has been launched.

Reigate & Banstead Borough Council who organize the annual entertainment extravaganza Star for a Night are calling on young entertainers - singers, dancers, actors and comedians - to start practicing their skills so that they are ready for the show's auditions in the New Year.
Auditions

The auditions take place at the Harlequin on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 January 2011 and are open to young people aged 11 to 18 who live or go to school in the borough:

  • On Saturday, auditions are being held from 12.30pm to 3.30pm
  • On Sunday between 2.30pm to 3.30pm

Those performers who successfully make it through the auditions will receive professional coaching to polish up their act before taking to the stage April 2011.

ECU’s Dance Program

Audition dates for entrance into ECU’s Dance Program for the Academic Year 2011–2012: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 5 AND SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2011.

Contact the administrative assistant at 252-328-6390.The audition will consist of an orientation, an abbreviated technique class including a ballet bare, sequences in ballet, modern and jazz, an improvisation, and a small group interview. Also, applicants need to be prepared to present a one-minute solo choreographed in the style of their choice, if requested by the dance faculty. The number of students for each audition session is limited, and sessions are filled on a first come,First -served basis.
