After an imposing presentation at auditions the 16-year-old scored the lead role in the school's biennial musical alongside 13-year-old Darby Fullerton as Sandy Olsson.
While Jack has used the last few school terms to skirmish up on his singing part, his acting skills have already been confirmed. He was selected for the best supporting actor award at the 2009 Showdown Auckland secondary school production competition for his role in the Diary of Anne Frank.
Diary of Anne Frank director and Rosehill's head of drama Stacey Bolt topped her category at the 2009 Showdown Awards and takes on the director's role again this time around.
