The WA Youth Jazz Orchestra (WAYJO) invites developing young jazz musicians to attend our auditions, to test themselves against the best of their peers, and win an exciting position in one of our orchestras. This year WAYJO is holding auditions in December, to meet the increased demand in applicants.
WAYJO is a hothouse for Australia’s young jazz musicians. It is the bridge for aspiring young musicians to professional working musicians and provides a unique experience for jazz musicians aged 14 to 25 who are the absolute cream of young jazz players in the state. They will be rewarded with career defining experiences – touring, training and performing with world class guest artists.
Mace Francis, WAYJO Artistic Director and a member of the selection panel for the auditions, encourages young musicians to “take a chance and audition. WAYJO is the only big band jazz orchestra of its size in Australia – and it’s right here on your door step!All positions in our three big bands are up for grabs. We’re always looking for new faces
and bright new talent,” Mr Francis said.
