X factor judge Cheryl Cole is being treated for malaria after failing at a photoshoot at the weekend, her spokesperson has confirmed.
The 27-year-old is thought to have contracted the disease - which is caught from being bitten by an infected mosquito - whereas on holiday in Tanzania last month.
She is said to have canceled her coming up work obligations.
A message on ITV's X Factor website read: "Everyone here at The X Factor Towers would like to say a massive get well soon to Cheryl, following doctors' advice, she's been asked to rescind all work commitments for the next week.
"We'll keep you updated just as soon as we hear more on the issue."
Cole split from her England footballer husband Ashley Cole earlier this year.
She is scheduled to play at next month's V Festival.
