A special BFA Dance Pre-Audition for UF and other Florida programs on Saturday, October 30, 2010, as part of the FDF on Tour (Florida Dance Association) at UF School of Theater and Dance McGuire Pavilion G-6. Please contact Ric Rose for more information. This is not a formal audition, but an opportunity to talk with UF dance faculty about the program and gain some valuable audition experience.
Please be aware that we require accurate GPA information and test scores. Complete audition information, including detailed schedule, map, etc., will be sent to the e-mail address. If you have been unable to submit the Audition Registration form within the two week deadline, please contact the dance coordinator to obtain permission to join the audition.
Dress Regulations
Leotard (or tight T-shirt for men) and tights, jazz pants or leggings. You may want to use soft ballet slippers and jazz shoes for portions of the class. Please do not wear any baggy warmers or other loose overdressing after the initial warm-up. Hair should be secured away from the face. You may be asked to wear your hair loose for later portions of the audition. Wearing a distinctive color or accessory that does not impair dancing is encouraged.
Solo Dance Requirements
All Auditionees will present one solo following these guidelines:
Time - no more than 90 seconds (timed)
Style - contemporary modern dance is encouraged, but choice of style is up to the individual
Music – while music is optional, recorded music must be on CD, with only your solo music recorded
Choreography - choreography by the student is preferred, but not required
- upperclass transfer students are required to show their own choreography
Artistic Integrity - emphasis is on honest performance, not acrobatics or tricks
Transfer students (only) who have had previous and substantial course work in dance composition and wish to have this course work transfer as credit, please bring a DVD sample of several examples of your choreography on the day of your audition. If you wish for this to be returned, please provide a SASE with the DVD.
